What
is known of Sauria's history is bleak and wartorn, and much
of what once was known has been lost.
The
most reliable history originates approximately 150 aboyoch
(Saurian years) after an event known as The Wrath of the
Stars, right as the time of Chaos came to an end.
A
group of scholars at the behest of the newly risen Melgor
(Karnian Emperor) began examining and chronicling the events
that occurred from the Wrath of the Stars to the present,
so that his rise to power would be fully documented.
Though
there were many ruins and artifacts scattered about Sauria
from the time before the Wrath, a primal fear kept them
from being explored by all but the most brave and foolish
of Saurn.
Twenty
aboyoch after the rise of the Karn Empire, Melgor initiated
a war of domination, intent on ending once and for all the
chaos that claimed Sauria. His armies swept across the eastern
continent, and for a time they were sated.
Eventually
Melgor's thirst for conquest grew parched once more and
he turned his eyes toward the west, toward Saurkrechak and
Heria, where fragmented kingdoms warred amongst each other.
The
Karn armies swept west, intent on bringing all Sauria under
the rule of Melgor, as was his right. But with the assistance
of the Jerkrenak, the kingdoms of Heria united as the Herian
Dynasty and brought the war to a stalemate.
The
war came to an abrupt end with the sudden activation of
an ancient barrier that essentially split the planet in
half. The Herian forces decimated the Karnian invasion force.
The
magnitude of this even sparked a planet wide reclamation
effort as the Karn Empire sought to find a means of piercing
the barrier, which came to be known as the Picket, while
the Herian Dynasty sought the means to ensure that they
would have the upper hand should the Picket ever fail.
Over
two hundred aboyoch have passed since the Picket was raised
and the reclamation began in earnest. Still the old hatreds
run strong, fomented by fear of the unknown. But now the
Herians have found what they have been looking for, and
it lies on the Karnian side of the Picket. And the Karnian
Emperor knows this.
The
great barrier will be pierced, and the future of all Sauria
will fall into the hands of a single Karnian warrior, who's
choice will save or doom them all.
